I love finding sewing treasures secondhand. Here are some of the buttons and fabric that I bought last week.
The problem with me and buttons is that I'm pretty into collecting them and not actually using them. Like those round buttons... they're just too special to put on any old thing, so I don't mind keeping them around to look at every once in awhile. Opening up my button box and rummaging through its contents is one of my simple pleasures.
Now for the fabric... I think the piece that I'm most excited about is actually the most hideous of the bunch. You see that sort of peachy fabric with black slashes? Yeah, that's spandex. Kind of gross right? But also super exciting because all I can think about is how fun it would be to run around my house in a pair of leggings made from that material. Not really something I'd want to wear in public, but definitely good for playing at home. There's a BurdaStyle pattern for leggings that I'm going to look into when I have some free time.
No free time right now though. I'm still busy with my visiting family. Today we went to the Marin Headlands with my dad.

We went to the Point Bonita Lighthouse which is one of my favorite places. You have to walk down a path, through a tunnel, and across a couple of bridges to get to it. The whole walk is along the top of a cliff down to the ocean and the view is absolutely gorgeous.
Walking across the rickety two person bridge. You might not want to look down...
My grandma is full of rhymes that she learned as a child in England and here's one that goes with the last photo:
What a wonderful bird is the pelican
Its beak can hold more than its belly can
It can hold in its beak enough food for a week
But I don't know how in the hell he can

Hi there! I didn't see a way to e-mail you, so I hope this is fine. I just wanted to let you know that I am featuring your Scalloped Skirt (on Burdastyle) on my blog today.
ReplyDeleteThe link is: http://hideousdreadfulstinky.blogspot.com/2010/05/skirt-inspiration-tutorials-pencil.html
I am using one of your images, but I do give you full credit with a link to your website (both Burdastyke and this blog). Please check it out, and if there is any problem with this, let me know and I will remove the image and/or post immediately :)
Thanks for the great tutorial!
Okay I've gotta see some leggings out of that print they would be soo awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love buttons too! I store them all in one big container so in order to find anything, I have to pour the whole thing out and rummage through my stash. It takes forever to decide on buttons for a project because every time it's out I spend time admiring my collection :)
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of that blue fabric with the leaves! I can't wait to see what you'll do with it!!
