November 8

My boyfriend tells me that I should complete my projects before I start on new ones, and I guess this dress is the perfect example of why that's some good advice. I think I started making this dress back in May, but only just this past weekend got around to finishing it! Despicable, right?

Anyway, I made this dress following Grainline's Tiny Pocket Dress tutorial which explains how to turn her Tiny Pocket Tank into a dress with a button placket. My own alterations to the pattern included lowering the neckline in the back and adding a drawstring casing and drawstring around the waist. The buttons and the fabric were both purchased secondhand.

Yes, it would have been a wonderful summer dress, but luckily it works well with a sweater and tights for fall.

PS: I've been wearing this dress quite a bit lately and probably should have ironed it before these photos, so pardon my wrinkles.

  1. Man, I was going to ask you where you got the pattern, love this version!! I am going to have to make one with a drawstring, seriously genius!

  2. I'm so bad for starting things and not finishing them! A habit I'm continually working on trying to break!

Love your dres, the fabric is such a pretty print and the button placket is a cute detail!

  3. I love this! Its so fun!! :) Very cute, a good dress for somewhat warm winter weather, since the colors are so vibrant, and they will cheer you up from the winter gloom!

  4. How could you have waited for so long! This dress is wonderful. I love how it turned out with the waist string and the fabric print is astonishing. :)

  5. I love this! That is such awesome fabric. The drawstring waist is genius. I'm constantly starting things and then finishing them months later. Too many things to do, so little time!
